During the current school year 2019-2020, the director, Mr Mavrokostidis Grigoris, of the 7th Lyceum of Thessaloniki and the Mathematics teacher, Mrs Efraimidou Katerina, have implemented the program “The Holocaust and the Greek Jews” within the context of a broader education on Human Rights.
Today, they are pleased to announce the creation of a new section in their school’s library which includes books on the history of the Holocaust and the history of the Jewish Community of Thessaloniki, thanks to the kind sponsorship of The Olga Lengyel Institute for Holocaust Studies and Human Rights (TOLI) and the courteous assistance of the Jewish Museum of Thessaloniki.
The students of the school will now have the opportunity to research the historical self-consciousness of their city through the personal stories of its inhabitants and to study the timeless multicultural history of Thessaloniki. At the same time, they will have the opportunity to enjoy great historical novels from both Greek and world literature.
