On April 7th, 2019, the cinematography group of the 11th grade of the 7th Lykeio Thessaloniki traveled to Athens to attend the rehabilitation meeting and to be awarded for their participation in the “Holocaust and the Greek Jews” competition. As part of the event, students shared their thoughts and feelings about what they saw on the Auschwitz trip, which is neither easy nor pleasant. In addition, poems, songs and texts were read about the death camps. Our pupils actively participated in the discussion and referred to what they were most impressed with during the Auschwitz I and II tours, while stressing the importance and necessity of such a trip. They wondered about the usefulness of the social hierarchy and submitted their desire to build a future far from racism. The event was completed by awarding prizes and praises to all participants. The awards were given by the Secretary General of the Department of Religious Affairs of the Ministry of Education, Mr. George Kalantzis, and the Director of the Jewish Museum of Greece, Mrs. Zanet Battinou.
