Activities and projects by Efraimidou Katerina and Mavrokostidis Grigoris

Throughout the 2017-2018 school year the following activities and projects have been implemented:

1. Documentary creation: It is based on the personal testimony of Mrs. Soultana Tarampoulous, an Auschwitz survivor. It is a combination of history, the story of the Jewish community in Didymoteixo as depicted through Mrs. Tarampoulous eyes and as further clarified through the intervention of Historian Mr. Rizaleos.    2. Screening of our short film at the “Camera Zizanio- Short Film Festival”. Entitled “To those … who resist”, it is about the life of Mrs. Selly Koen Kounio who has survived WWII as a hidden child. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcpvoJKIYss&t=3s

3. Guided Tour at the oldest Synagogue (1850) in Northern Greece, Veroia.
4. Educational visit to the Photography Museum and guided tour through the expedition “Shared Sacred Sites in the Balkans and the Mediterranean” via experiential activities.
5. Documentary creation: “Stories of Resistance during the Holocaust”. It is about the Greek-Jewish Resistance as portrayed in works of literature and as recounted by the son of Elias Errera, a National Liberation Front member during the German Occupation in Greece.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mi43FyvjcW4&t=3s
6. Screening of the short film “A Bookstore in Six Chapters” at 11^th Class on the International Holocaust Remembrance Day followed by a semi-guided discussion and by a walking tour though the Old Jewish neighborhood of Thessaloniki on the following day.
7. The Cinematography Team of our school travelled to Auschwitz under the aegis of the Greek Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs in collaboration with the Jewish Museum of Greece.
